The prestigious GINTONG AKLAT AWARDS, established in 1981 and held every 2 years, are given out regularly to outstanding book publishers based on the quality of books they produce year after year. |

BACKGROUND
The prestigious GINTONG AKLAT AWARDS, established in 1981 and held every 2 years, are given out regularly to outstanding book publishers based on the quality of books they produce year after year. Managed by the Book Development Association of the Philippines (BDAP), the Awards are meant to recognize excellence in bookmaking in the country today.
OBJECTIVE
The objective of the Awards is to recognize and encourage the production of quality books that are excellent in all aspects of bookmaking. Specific areas for recognition would include Book Manufacture (printing, binding, etc), Book Design, Language (correctness of grammar, readability) and Book Content (writing and editing).

1. LITERATURE
2. TRADEBOOKS
3. RELIGIOUS BOOKS
4. CHILDREN’S BOOKS
5. THE ARTS
6. SOCIAL SCIENCE
7. NATURAL SCIENCE
8. SPECIAL AWARD : BESTSELLER AWARD
CRITERIA
Book entries shall be judged based on the following criterias:
1. Quality of Production
2. Book Design
3. Language
4. Content
ELIGIBILITY
1. The contest shall be open to all full-pledged Filipino book publishers organized to engage MAINLY ON BOOK PUBLISHING
2. Books published covering only the period from January 2006 to December 2007 shall be eligible
AWARDS
1. Grand Winner and Runner Up awards may be given in each category
2. Trophies of recognition shall be awarded to the winners of each category
3. The awards will be presented during the Awards Night during the Manila International Book Fair at SMX Convention Center on September 12, 2008
SUBMISSION OF ENTRIES
1. Entry Forms will be distributed starting April 28 exclusively to all BDAP members
2. All entries must be submitted to:

National Printing Office Building
EDSA corner NIA Northside Road
Diliman, Quezon City
c/o Ms. Grace Santos
3. Official entries shall be composed of one (1) copy of the nominated book together with a properly accomplished Gintong Aklat Entry Form
4. All Book entries shall be donated to the NBDB Library after the contest
5. Deadline for the submission of entries is on JUNE 30, 2008
