Gintong Aklat Awards 2006

The Gintong Aklat Awards were given out at ceremonies last August 30, 2006, at the Makati Skyline Restaurant at the World Trade Center.

The Gintong Aklat is given out every two years to publishers, for books that are excellent in content, design, and production. The following emerged as winners: The Truth about Coconut Oil: The Drugstore in a Bottle by Conrado S. Dayrit, M.D.,Anvil Publishing (Natural Science); Barako: The Big Bean by Chit Juan and Alejandro Mojica, Anvil Publishing (Trade Books); Ang Hayop na Ito by Virgilio S. Almario, Anvil Publishing (Literature-Filipino); Banana Heart Summer by Merlinda Bobis, Anvil Publishing (Literature-English); 100 Questions Filipino Kids Ask, Adarna House (Children’s Book), Tanaw: Perspective on the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas by Ramon S. Lerma, Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (The Arts); She Has Done a Beautiful Thing for Me by Anne C. Kwantes, OMF Literature (Religious Books); Women of Malolos by Nicanor Tiongson, Ateneo Press (Social Science).
